Estonian BioImaging

Summary

Estonian BioImaging is a state-of-the-art imaging research infrastructure in the fields of biology, biomedicine, and drug development. At the moment of writing, the application for infrastructure has been submitted and we are waiting for its outcome.

The aim of BioImaging infrastructure is to provide all Estonian researchers access to cutting-edge microscopes, imaging expertise, training, and analysis capabilities that their home institutions cannot offer independently. The initiative encompasses core imaging laboratories from 6 different institutes of the UT and TalTech, as well as research-intensive Estonian companies.

The initiative also aims to join Euro-Bioimaging ERIC, whose competence centres are located in 18 countries. Euro-BioImaging provides Estonian researchers access to top-notch technologies essential for cutting-edge research, which Estonia cannot afford or whose user base is small.

It is expected that through the Estonian BioImaging infrastructure, the achieved national and international networking would increase the intensity and quality of Estonian research and ensures the sustainable development and competitiveness of related technology-intensive fields at the European level.
